History

A ring of five, provided by wealthy farmer John Edward Bealey, was cast for the church in 1881 by John Taylor & Co. and hung in a wooden frame in which all the bells swing east-west. A project to rehang them in a new frame lower in the tower was undertaken when the Heritage Lottery Fund offered financial assistance. The Society offered a substantial grant and suggested that augmentation to six should be considered. English Heritage insisted that a piece of the old side frame must be kept but below that a new metal low-side frame was installed by Taylor's with local help.
